The 'H' Word

The show on the weekend was strictly exceptional, it reminded me why I love hardcore and unfortunately I do need these reminders. Not having to rely on the internet to see and hear new bands is good, as is escaping the politics of online forums (didn’t say I don’t love it dearly btw).

As much effort as it is to make it to Melbourne shows, these journeys are always good fun, the good food, the good shopping, the new places, meeting new people and catching up with old friends.

Jaws played their final ever east coast set and with out a doubt did tear the arty to pieces.

Mindsnare played next and played well but weren’t at their best, unfortunately they had to cut a few songs as the show was running well behind schedule. Mindsnare I still haven’t forgiven you for pulling out of the show at The Brisbane.

Extortion headlined and were at the top of their game, they played an inadmissibly intense set. Catching this band for the first time was fulfilling, for such an incredible band they hardly ever seem to play any east coast shows which does suck.

Best on ground I thought went to Jaws who seemed to have a special spark and played with such enthusiasm. Most valuable player was Onton from Jaws for breaking his nose during Mindsnare. Honorable mentions go to the guys standing outside in the torrential rain watching through an open door and also Rowan from Extortion for being the only ever red head worthy of existence.
